Bylaws of the Board

Student Representatives on the Board of Education

The Seymour Board of Education shall allow one student from Seymour High School to participate in its meetings as a Student Member of the Board of Education.  The Board of Education shall appoint one Student Member and on Alternate Student Member for each school year, which appointments shall be within its discretion.  The Board of Education shall have the right to remove any Student Member or Alternate Student Member within its discretion.  The Board shall seek the advice of the Seymour High School Student Council in making such appointments.

The Alternate Student Member may participate at Board of Education meetings if the student member is not present.

Neither the Student Member nor the Alternate Student Member shall be entitled to vote on matters before the Board of Education, or to participate in Executive Sessions of the Board.  The Board of Education in its discretion may exclude the Student Member or Alternate Student Member from participation or involvement in any other matters within the Board’s discretion.
