Posting of Student Work or Photographs of Students on School or District Websites

The New Hartford Public Schools publishes photographs of students and their work on the school or district websites in order to acknowledge student achievements and to generate interest within the community for the work of our students.

However, the District recognizes its obligation to protect student privacy and to ensure student safety while also balancing these needs with the need for open communications. Therefore, the Board established these guidelines to fulfill this obligation when student work is considered for posting student work/photographs.

The following guidelines must be followed when posting student work or photographs on the school or district website:

1.  Only first names will be used for identification of published student work.

2.  Art work and photographs that are part of student publishing should not include identifying information beyond a first name of the student artist.

3.  If replies to published student work are appropriate, the sponsoring teacher should use only the school e-mail address and never the student s home e-mail address.

4.  Photographs of students may be used only with their parents  permission.
