Vacations and Holidays

General

Vacation and holiday practices shall be in according with employee negotiated agreements and this policy.  In case of conflict between policy and agreements, provisions of negotiated agreements shall prevail.

1.  During the School Year.  Vacations for 11 or 12 month employees will be granted only at times of the year when they will not interfere with the normal operation of the school, but in no case may more than one week vacation be granted while students are in attendance at school.

2.  Application for a Vacation.  Eligible employees must apply for vacation to the Superintendent of Schools at least eight (8) weeks in advance of the desired starting date. Special consideration shall be given to emergencies. All applications are subject to final approval by the Superintendent.

3.  Accrued Vacation Credit.  An employee who anticipates termination in this district may take accrued vacation prior to the termination date with proper approval.

4.  Cancellation of Vacation in Emergency.  All vacations may be canceled without notice in event of emergency.

Holidays

Except as otherwise approved by the Board of Education or set forth in employee negotiated agreements, holidays shall be those designated in C.G.S. 1-4.
